Kenny Noe Jr. pushed back to Sunday

MIAMI – The $90,000 Kenny Noe Jr. Stakes, which failed to fill Saturday, will be carried over to Sunday’s card at Gulfstream Park West.

Only 16 horses were nominated to the six-furlong dash, with Black Diamond Cat, City of Weston, Close It Out, Grande Shores, Risk Factor, and Speechify among those expected to start if the race goes Sunday.

Lukas confirms Take Charge Brandi is headed to Princess

Emily Shields
Take Charge Brandi and jockey Victor Espinoza score a 61-1 upset in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies on Saturday.

It’s not a hop, skip and a jump to get to Delta Downs in the small southwestern Louisiana town of Vinton.

“The last two hours are by stagecoach,” trainer D. Wayne Lukas said.

Lukas on Wednesday confirmed he intends to send Breeder’s Cup winner Take Charge Brandi for the Grade 3, $400,000 Delta Downs Princess on Nov. 22.

It is not a simple trek to get to Delta. Horses flying in must land in either Houston or New Orleans, then van several hours to the Louisiana-Texas border track, nestled under mile-high pine trees.
