ETOBICOKE, Ontario – A field of approximately 16 Canadian-bred 3-year-olds looks to be taking shape for the $1 million Queen’s Plate, the centerpiece of the meet here July 6.
A maximum of 17 runners will be allowed to run, and career earnings will be the determining factor for any horses on the outside looking in.
Todd Pletcher-trained Plate Trial winner We Miss Artie is the leading money winner among the nominees, with $699,000. Lexie Lou, the dominating Woodbine Oaks winner, isn’t far behind, with $649,250 in earnings.
