Ultimate Love training toward 3-year-old debut

Jeff Snyder/Maryland Jockey Club
Ultimate Love made her stakes debut in the $125,000 Selima in September and powered away by four lengths.

Ultimate Love, the top turf juvenile in the Mid-Atlantic region last year, is back in training at Fair Hill and could soon make her 3-year-old debut for trainer Michael Trombetta.

The Florida-bred filly spent her winter break back home at Live Oak Plantation, but Trombetta always planned to bring her to Maryland ahead of the turf season up north.

“[Live Oak] was very happy to give her a couple months’ downtime,” Trombetta said. “They got her started and they said she was right back into things, like she hadn’t had much of a break or rest. They were very happy with her.”

Allard leaning toward Whiteley for Quint's Brew

Jerry Dzierwinski/Maryland Jockey Club
Quint's Brew has notched all four of his career stakes victories at Laurel between six furlongs and a mile.

When Quint’s Brew bounced back to win the $100,000 Not For Love Stakes at Laurel Park on March 7, Ned Allard thought he had earned a rest after firing on a short turnaround. When the Maryland-bred got back to the barn, however, he gave his trainer a different idea.

“I planned on giving him at least a month between races, but he came out of his last race a grizzly bear,” Allard said.

Barbara D. Livingston
Paradise, winner of the Busher Stakes, is among six fillies expected for the Gazelle on April 4.

Paradise, an emphatic winner of the Busher Stakes here Feb. 28, and Two Bits, narrow winner of the Ruthless Stakes on Feb. 6, head a group of at least six 3-year-old fillies pointing to the Grade 3, $200,000 Gazelle Stakes on April 4.
