LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Groupie Doll had her final workout for the Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes, breezing a half-mile in 48.20 seconds early Saturday over a fast main track at Churchill Downs. Regular exercise rider Jada Schlenk was aboard.
“I told Jada to let her work on a little today,” said trainer Buff Bradley. “The mare galloped out real strong and came back full of energy. That’ll sharpen her up. She’s ready.”

That’s how much it will cost to nominate, enter, and start Chips All In in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint at Santa Anita on Nov. 2.
Winter Book is the speed of the $55,000 Chaves County at Zia Park in Hobbs, N.M., on Monday. The question will be how far she can carry it. Winter Book will be making her two-turn debut in the one-mile race for fillies and mares, and she will be putting a 4-for-4 career record on the line.
How handicappers perceive a pair of fourth-place finishes, one by Chamois in a minor stakes last month at Monmouth Park and the other by Cerro in a Grade 3 event five months ago at Keeneland, will probably determine which colt goes favored in Monday’s $50,000 Stanton Stakes for 3-year-olds on turf.
Chamois adds blinkers and cuts back from 1 1/8 miles to 1 1/16 miles after he was at the back of a four-horse photo for first in the Restoration on Aug. 17.
ARCADIA, Calif. - Chips All In won his second stakes of 2013 on Santa Anita’s hillside turf course in Friday’s $101,750 Eddie D Stakes, holding off a late run from Boat Trip to prevail by a nose.
Despite Chips All In’s affection for the course, trainer Jeff Mullins said after the race that Chips All In is unlikely to run in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint on the hillside course on Nov. 2. Chips All In is not nominated to the Breeders’ Cup program and would need to be made eligible.
AUBURN, Wash. – Dallon’s Gold has yet to be headed or seriously challenged in two starts to date, but that could change dramatically Sunday when he tackles brilliant 2-year-old filly Chu and You in the $50,000 Cahill Road Stakes at Emerald Downs. The final sprint stakes of the meeting, the Cahill Road attracted six runners, though four of them could be reduced to spectators as Dallon’s Gold and Chu and You fight it out up front.
ELMONT, N.Y. - Recepta, a 4 1/2-length debut winner at Saratoga on Sept. 1, worked five furlongs in 1:01.27 on Friday morning over the Belmont Park main track in preparation for the Grade 1, $500,000 Frizette next Saturday at Belmont.
Under jockey Junior Alvarado, Recepta went off her first quarter in 25.63 seconds and got her final quarter in 24.06. She galloped out six furlongs in 1:14.93 and seven furlongs in 1:30.29.
