FORT ERIE, Ontario – For the second consecutive week, Fort Erie has canceled its Monday card due to a lack of entries.

Fort Erie races Sundays and Tuesdays and had planned to add Mondays to the schedule beginning June 17.

“It wasn’t even close,” Fort Erie racing secretary Eric Johnston said Friday morning. “We looked at the situation going into yesterday’s entries for Sunday, and it was pretty obvious that we weren’t going to make Monday and make Tuesday also.

Hastings: Terlani should get right pace in Sunday allowance

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Terlani will have ample speed to set up her good late move Sunday, when she goes as the likely favorite in an allowance race for fillies and mares at Hastings. Run at 1 1/16 miles, the race will serve as the feature Sunday and drew a solid field of eight, including seven stakes winners.

Trained by Frank Barroby, Terlani is coming off a fast-closing second in the $50,000 Vancouver Sun on June 9. She won the Sun last year and then went on the shelf after she was injured when a horse ran into her while she was training.

Churchill: Casino Dan heads wide-open turf allowance

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – If he knew anything about it, Casino Dan might feel like Cooper Manning, an athlete with two brothers who have made it huge.

Like Peyton and Eli to Cooper, the equine analogies for Casino Dan are his older brothers Wise Dan and Successful Dan, whose feats made their dam, Lisa Danielle, the 2012 Broodmare of the Year in Kentucky.

Delaware: New Yawker breaks track record for 5 1/2 furlongs

Delaware Park
New Yawker, in the winner's circle, after running 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:02.59 in a starter allowance on the main track at Delaware Park.

New Yawker, a 7-year-old gelding claimed for $5,000 in February, broke Delaware Park’s main-track record for 5 1/2 furlongs and extended his winning streak to four races in Thursday’s fourth race.

Ridden by 10-pound apprentice rider Jevian Toledo in a $5,000 starter allowance, New Yawker ran the distance on a fast track in 1:02.59, erasing the previous record of 1:02.68 set by Trickle of Gold in 2006. He rallied from second to score by three-quarters of a length over 4-5 favorite Gangsterontherun.

Colonial Downs: Channel Lady gets class relief in All Along Stakes

Barbara D. Livingston
Channel Lady (right) won the Suwanee River Stakes at Gulfstream Park in February and will look for another Grade 3 win in Saturday's All Along Stakes.

Stephanie’s Kitten, Centre Court, Hungry Island, Daisy Devine – Channel Lady has faced the best female grass horses stationed east of the Mississippi this year, and the class relief provided by a trip to Virginia should make her formidable in the Grade 3, $100,000 All Along Stakes on Saturday night at Colonial Downs.

Charles Town: Jax and Jill has edge in It’s Binn Too Long Stakes

Charles Town Races
Jax and Jill has won five of seven career starts heading into Saturday's $50,000 It’s Binn Too Long Stakes.

Jax and Jill may not have been quite good enough to dethrone Down Town Allen as the top West Virginia-bred female racing at Charles Town, but she appears far too fast for her fellow 3-year-old filly statebreds in Saturday’s $50,000 It’s Binn Too Long Stakes.

Belmont Park: Dreaming of Julia can let bygones be bygones in Mother Goose

Barbara D. Livingston
Dreaming of Julia’s run in the Kentucky Oaks was badly compromised by a bump at the start and being forced to steady on the far turn.

ELMONT, N.Y. - Though he was obviously happy to win the Kentucky Oaks with Princess of Sylmar, there was still a tinge of disappointment for trainer Todd Pletcher when it came to Dreaming of Julia, the Oaks favorite whom he also trains, who finished fourth.

After getting bumped hard at the break and having to steady entering the far turn while attempting to get back into the race, Dreaming of Julia had to settle for fourth, 2 1/2 lengths behind Princess of Sylmar.
