There will be 10 Breeders' Cup Win and You're In races that will be run opening weekend at Keeneland.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Even with the young folk, it’s a local tradition far more palatable than, say, burning couches. Everybody gets all dressed up in their autumn finest to see and be seen at Keeneland, where a 17-day fall meet will get away to a flying start Friday.

A huge weekend that most of Lexington has had circled on their calendars for months begins Friday with a 10-race card highlighted by the Grade 1 Alcibiades and Grade 2 Phoenix, the first of 10 FallStars Weekend stakes and the first of 10 Win and You’re In races to be run toward the Nov. 5-6 Breeders’ Cup at Del Mar.

All Quality confirms liking for synthetic surface

Lauren King
Choose Joy becomes the last of three straight winners on Sunday for jockey Miguel Vasquez.

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Trainer Mark Casse is among the leading advocates for the Tapeta surface unveiled here last week. So it should have come as no surprise the Hall of Fame trainer wasted little time taking advantage of the new track, sending out All Quality to a victory in Sunday’s main event.

Emily Shields
Bajan Girl is trained by Rohan Crichton, one of five trainers suspended by Gulfstream for breaking a house drug rule.

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Part of the fallout from the recent suspensions of five locally based trainers due to clenbuterol violations centers on the fate of the graded stakes-placed Bajan Girl, who is being pointed to either the Grade 1 Spinster at Keeneland or Grade 1 Beldame at Belmont Park.

Two more starts for Pink Lloyd at Woodbine meet

Michael Burns
Pink Lloyd returned $4.10 in winning the Bold Venture Stakes at Woodbine on Saturday.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Trainer Robert Tiller said four-time Canadian champion male sprinter Pink Lloyd exited his Sept. 25 victory in the Grade 3 Bold Venture in spry fashion and is planning on running the popular gelding twice more at the Woodbine meet.

Nine-year-old Pink Lloyd finished a troubled second to Souper Stonehenge in each of his first two starts this year in a pair of Grade 3 stakes, the Jacques Cartier and Vigil. Normally a mid-pack closer, he inherited the lead in the paceless Bold Venture and won by a measured three-quarters of a length over a pesky Lucky Curlin.

ELMONT, N.Y. - Trainer Leah Gyarmati was happy to see Sail By show a new dimension in upsetting Saturday’s Grade 2 Miss Grillo Stakes by a length over Kinchen. She believes that will serve her well in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf on Nov. 5 at Del Mar.

Sail By sat an up-close second to a slow pace and still showed a strong late kick that she did when she came from off the pace to win a maiden race sprinting here in the summer. She won the Miss Grillo by a length over Kinchen.
