Joyful Tune via disqualification in Cheval

Joyful Tune (8) wins the $40,000 Cheval at Delta Downs after Dirty Red (7) is disqualified for interference.

Joyful Tune was placed first in the $40,000 Cheval at Delta Downs on Saturday night following the disqualification of winner Dirty Red for interference. Dirty Red, who bolted in the stretch and hit Joyful Tune, was placed seventh and last in the Cheval.

Dirty Red finished three-quarters of a length in front of Joyful Tune, and covered five furlongs in 59.90 seconds.

Jockey Gerard Melancon rode Joyful Tune for P D R Racing and trainer Cole Norman. Joyful Tune paid $7.40.

Three straight for Jimmy Cracked Corn

Jimmy Cracked Corn wins by 1 length in the $30,000 Bucharest at Sam Houston Race Park on Saturday.

Jimmy Cracked Corn won his third straight race when he drove to a one-length win over Foxtrot Oscar in the $30,000 Bucharest at Sam Houston Race Park on Saturday night. It was another four and three quarter lengths back in third to Polish Navigator.

Jimmy Cracked Corn raced with Next Bandit through a half-mile in 44.68 seconds, then went on to cover the six-furlongs for 3-year-olds in 1:11.89. The track was rated good.

Eurosilver to return on Wednesday

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - Eurosilver, one of three Kentucky Derby hopefuls in trainer Nick Zito's barn, will make his 3-year-old debut under second level allowance conditions in Wednesday's third race at Gulfstream Park.

Eurosilver has not started since winning the Grade 2 Lanes End Futurity at Keeneland on Oct. 4. The son of Unbirdled's Son won two of three starts as a 2-year-old. He has been training steadily for his return at Palm Meadows training center.

Gulfstream cancels Sunday card

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - Racing at Gulfsteam Park was cancelled after the second race on Sunday when jockeys refused to continue riding due to an unsafe racetrack. The skies were sunny and the temperature was near 80 degrees at the time of the cancellation.

Nearly the entire jockey colony went out to inspect the racetrack following the conclusion of the second race on Sunday's 10 race program. Following a lengthy discussion amongst themselves and with management, the jockeys voted unanimously not to ride the remainder of the card.

Pleasantly Perfect takes San Antonio

ARCADIA, Calif. - A flawless performance by Pleasantly Perfect in Saturday's $245,000 at Santa Anita left winning trainer Richard Mandella wondering whether the 6-year-old has improved since his victory in the Breeders' Cup Classic last October.

Pleasantly Perfect ($5.80) stalked the pace in a field of four and romped clear in early stretch to win the Grade 2 San Antonio by four lengths over 10-1 Star Cross.

"He's getting smarter and stronger all the time," Mandella said. "My horse is a different horse. There's no limit yet to him."

Monkey Hill tries to take next step

NEW ORLEANS - won his career debut Jan. 10 as the favorite in a 12-horse field, and in the week leading up to the Grade 3 Lecomte Stakes here at Fair Grounds, his name came up as a possible participant. Monkey Hill has generated some buzz, and it will be interesting to see how his development progresses in Monday's featured ninth race at Fair Grounds.

Three set to do battle once more

PORTLAND, Ore. - Jekyll and Hyde, Donovan Scores, and Bon to Run, who took turns outfinishing each other in January, will attempt to sort out their pecking order in Monday's featured race at Portland Meadows. At a mile for older $5,000 claimers, the race has drawn a field of seven, including a stable coupling.

The three-way competition began Jan. 3, when Jekyll and Hyde won his Portland Meadows debut at the expense of Donovan Scores, whom he outfinished by four lengths after a mile in 1:39.21. Trainer Tony Canady claimed the 7-year-old Jekyll and Hyde out of that race for $3,200
