ALBANY, Calif. - Mounts for jockey Barrington Harvey are usually too few and far between.

But you don't ride 26 years without learning, and the 40-year-old Harvey showed his skills Sunday at Golden Gate Fields when he rode three winners for the second time in his career.

Harvey guided Mountain Minister to a $32 victory Saturday, moving from last to first to win a $32,000 maiden race at 1 1/16 miles.

On Sunday, Harvey, whose 13 wins this year have averaged payoffs of more than $26, rode to victory one favorite, one second choice, and one horse paying $10.60.

Numberonetreasure, a $32,000 purchase by E. Jacqueline Armstrong, topped the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society's winter mixed sale at the Woodbine Sales Pavilion in Etobicoke, Ontario, On Saturday and Sunday.

Numberonetreasure, a 6-year-old Bold Ruckus mare in foal to Langfuhr, was sold by Schonberg Farm as agent for Gustav Schickedanz, who owns 2003 Canadian Horse of the Year Wando, a son of Langfuhr.

SUNLAND PARK, N.M. - Chick Goes Steppin used a late burst to score an upset in the $125,000-added Jess Burner Memorial Stakes for New Mexico-breds. Trainer Michael Joiner and jockey G. R. Carter dominate the Quarter Horse standings here, so it was surprising that their horse was let go at 15-1 in a big race.

Negor De Az had the lead to the final yards before Chick Goes Steppin overtook him in the final yards. It was the first win from five starts this season for Chicks Goes Steppin, but the eighth in 21 career outs. Chick Goes Steppin covered the 400 yards in 19.489.

Cruise Along rallied from midpack to run down odds-on favorite Shiny Sheet and second-choice Undercover coming into the stretch and won the $100,000 Gesiah Handicap for Maryland-bred fillies and mares by a widening 4 1/2 lengths.

Trained by Murray Lawrence and ridden by Abel Castellano Jr., Cruise Along ran the 1 1/16 miles in 1:42.98 on a fast track and paid $17.20. Shiny Sheet held second, four lengths in front of Undercover in third.

Postponed because of bad weather both on Nov. 29 and again on Saturday, the Geisha was finally run Sunday with a field of nine.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Star Parade played the spoiler in Sunday's $150,000 at Hollywood Park, leading throughout and turning back a challenge from Breeders' Cup Distaff winner Adoration in the final furlong.

Star Parade won by 3 1/4 lengths, extending a one-length lead at the eighth pole.

"I thought we'd be on the lead," winning trainer Darrell Vienna said. "We knew the only time she'd been headed she kicked in and kept running."

Star Parade ($26.40) finished 1 1/16 miles in 1:41.02, winning her first stakes in her 12th start.

Souris rallied from last to first to win the $35,000 Cy-Fair Stakes by a head over Real Bear. It was another 8 1/2 lengths back in third to Irish of Dobbin.

Souris ($3.60) trailed the field early in the seven-furlong race for 3-year-old fillies, then closed with a rush through the stretch for the win, covering the distance in 1:24.72. Jeremy Beasley rode the winner for trainer Steve Asmussen.

Rocky Gulch delivered on the high expectations that followed him in the $125,000-added Red Hedeman Mile Handicap for statebred juveniles, winning by 3 1/2 lengths in 1:36.46 despite not having started since the Rio Grande Futurity at Ruidoso on July 13. Owner-breeder Larry Teague was on hand for the trophy presentation along with trainer Terry Walker.

TORONTO, Ontario - Wando, winner of the Canadian Triple Crown and $2,017,323 this season, received his just deserts when honored as Canada's Horse of the Year at the 29th annual Sovereign Awards ceremony here Saturday night.

Winners of the Sovereign Awards, which honor the outstanding performers in Canadian Thoroughbred horseracing and breeding, were determined by 58 voters who listed their top three choices in each of 16 categories. Points were assigned on a 4-2-1 basis.

Aqueduct canceled its live racing card on Sunday due to the winter storm that hit the Northeast over the weekend. The Sunday card in its entirety, including the $75,000 East View Stakes, will be run on Wednesday.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Olmodavor ended his 2003 campaign with a win in Saturday's $100,000 at Hollywood Park that will earn him a place in the important handicaps of 2004.

The victory gave trainer Richard Mandella a record seventh win in the Grade 3 Native Diver.

Winning his first stakes, Olmodavor rallied from last of five to catch an unlucky Nose the Trade in the final sixteenth to win by a half-length. He was last in early stretch and did not respond to jockey Alex Solis's urging until the final furlong.
