ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Jockey Todd Kabel registered his second Grade 2 stakes win of the afternoon as he guided Inish Glora to a 1.75 length victory here in Sunday's sixth race, the $329,000 Canadian Handicap.
Inish Glora, trained here by Mac Benson, bobbled at the start but then relaxed nicely in third place behind pacesetters Ginger Gold and First Quarter before making her move heading into the stretch of the about 1 1/8 mile turf race for fillies and mares.
ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Longshot Bachelor Blues make all the running under Todd Kabel in the Grade 2 for 2-year-olds at Woodbine Sunday.
Bachelor Blues set uncontested fractions of :23.45 and :46.26, while being stalked by Grand Heritage and Bon Marie, in the one-mile turf event. He opened up a clear lead in the stretch, where he appeared to loaf, but was able to hold off a charging Victory Light to prevail by a neck. Commendation finished third, but was disqualified and placed 10th for interfering with favored Dynafire and Zakocity on the turn. The final time was 1:34.95.
SAN MATEO, Calif. - Cellamare ($3.60), a French-bred mare owned in part by New York Yankees manager Joe Torre, rallied from far off the pace to win the $60,850 Carmel Handicap at Bay Meadows on Saturday.
The 3-year-old filly was eighth in her U.S. debut in the Grade 2 San Clemente at Del Mar on Aug. 2 eight days after her arrival from France.
"I made a mistake," trainer Frank Monteleone said. "She wasn't ready. She was very thin after the trip, but I hoped to get lucky. She's really blossomed since."

ELMONT, N.Y. - Trainer Bobby Frankel didn't need Sightseek to win Saturday's Ruffian Handicap after all.
Wild Spirit, the other top older filly in Frankel's barn, was a more than competent replacement as she cruised to a 3 1/2-length victory over stablemate You in the Grade 1, $300,000 before 6,842 at Belmont Park. It was five lengths back to Passing Shot in third.
Wild Spirit was a late replacement for Sightseek, whom trainer Bobby Frankel said was suffering from a cough and could not run.
ELMONT, N.Y. - Eleven months of disappointment for the connections of Della Francesca evaporated in just over 107 seconds Saturday as their 4-year-old colt rallied past Rouvres and Volponi in deep stretch to win the Grade 2, $200,000 by 1 1/2 lengths.
Rouvres, who took the lead from Volponi inside the eighth pole, finished second by a neck over Volponi, the 7-10 favorite. It was the sixth loss in as many starts this year for Volponi, who won last year's Breeders' Cup Classic.

Bauhauser, a group winner in Argentina, scored her first American stakes win in Saturday's $108,500 Floral Park Handicap at Belmont Park.
Bauhauser, under Richard Migliore, was a three-quarter-length winner over the 1-2 favorite, Shine Again. It was another 2 1/4 lengths back to Literary Light in third. Forest Heiress, Raging Fever, and Lilah completed the order of finish in the Grade 3.
FLORENCE, Ky. - Satish Sanan already has won each of the Breeders' Cup races for 2-year-olds, having won the Juvenile Fillies with Cash Run in 1999 and the Juvenile last year with Vindication.
But after Class Above, ridden by Edgar Prado, posted a spectacular 16-length victory Saturday in the $100,000 Kentucky Cup Juvenile Fillies at Turfway Park, Sanan couldn't help but think that he might have just watched the best 2-year-old he has ever owned.
